3 Steps for Life Training with St John
On Friday 16 May, Lakeside hosted its first 3 Steps for Life training session at the Lakeside Information Centre.
This free, one-hour educational programme was delivered by St John and focused on giving everyday New Zealanders the confidence to respond during an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Attendees learnt vital skills, including CPR techniques and how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator) — knowledge that could one day help save a life.
The response from our Lakeside community was fantastic, and it was great to see so many people eager to learn how they can help in an emergency.
Our New Defibrillator - Now Installed
Just a few weeks later, on Wednesday 12 June, we proudly installed our very own AED (automated external defibrillator) at the Lakeside Information Centre , in partnership with the Te Kauwhata Emergency Services Trust Board. The AED and lockbox were generously donated by the Te Kauwhata Emergency Services Trust Board. Together, we are excited to provide this essential amenity for the Lakeside, Te Kauwhata area.
This is a major milestone for the Te Kauwhata Lakeside area, as it’s currently the only AED available in the immediate vicinity. It’s a critical resource that can drastically improve survival rates in the event of a cardiac emergency.
Having an AED on-site is a reassuring safety measure for our residents, visitors, and community groups using the space.
