Close to Lakeside, Te Kauwhata Library is a hub for the community.
The homes at Lakeside are brand-new, but they’re close to an established community in Te Kauwhata.
At the heart of the village is Te Kauwhata Library, which opened a decade ago. Architects WSP received the New Zealand Institute of Architects Waikato/Bay of Plenty Public Architecture Award for the building in 2011.
Te Kauwhata Library is a real community hub, where locals come together to enjoy reading, plus a Lego Club, toddler time and book-chat get-togethers. Every second Wednesday during term time, the library also hosts Dogs in Libraries, where children can practise their reading skills in the company of rescue dogs and their carers in 15-minute sessions.
